The Library provides WiFi access throughout the whole building. The Library does not loan electronic equipment and is not responsible for personal equipment left unattended. The Library has limited electrical outlets so a fully charged battery and/or power cord is recommended. The Library does not provide extension cords. Electrical cords may not block aisles, constitute a tripping hazard within the building, or be strung across areas where people may be walking. Personal headphones are needed to access audio files. Computer users must be considerate of other patrons and refrain from excessive noise including the playing of music even with the use of headphones.
The public is welcome to bring their laptop or other devices equipped with an 802.11b/g/n compatible network card and accompanying hardware that supports the Wi-Fi standard (also known as IEEE 802.11b/g/n).
WiFi users should configure their equipment to use the correct SSID (Library). No encryption is used on the Library's wireless network. Wireless service is configured to allow personal computers to automatically detect and use the Internet without the need for a password or any configuration of personal computers.
Wireless network users are responsible for knowing how to configure their own equipment. Library staff is not able to assist in setting up wireless Internet on personal computers. There is no guarantee that patrons will be able to make a wireless connection. Users should refer to owner's manuals or other support services offered by the device manufacturer. The Library assumes no responsibility for any problems or damage that may be inflicted on any equipment by using or attempting to connect to the wireless.
All WiFi connections are less secure than wired access. WiFi users should educate themselves about the security risks, and take steps to secure their personal information. WiFi users may choose not to transmit their credit card or other personal information while using any WiFi "hotspot", including the Library’s wireless service. The Library's wireless network is not secure and is an open network. Anti-virus, security, privacy protection is the sole responsibility of the user. The Library cannot assure the safety of your data when you use either our wired or wireless Internet access.
