Book & Media Donations

Your donations of good, used books and media (DVDs and CD audio books) are a valuable resource for the Library. Donated materials are reviewed by staff; some materials are cataloged, processed and added to the Library's  collection to be circulated. Materials not added to the collection may be passed on to other libraries or added to the next book sale. Items which cannot be added to the book sale will be recycled whenever possible. The money collected from the book sales is donated to the Library to be used for buying new materials, equipment, and/or furnishings as well as funding programs.

Please view the donation guidelines before bringing items to the Library. Donations are accepted during Library open hours. If you would like a receipt for tax purposes, please request a tax form at the Adult Circulation Desk when you deliver the materials. We prefer donations not be placed in the bookdrop.

Memorials

Memorial and honorarium books are ways to remember someone special. These books may be in memory of a deceased loved one, or they may celebrate a special event such as the birth of a child, a birthday, or an anniversary. Your donation is used to purchase a book or collection of books or media that then becomes a part of the Library's collection. The book will bear a specialized bookplate honoring or memorializing the person you choose. To request such a book, please contact the Library in person.

Clean copies of “classic” titles

Books in Spanish

DVDs and full-length books on CDs in good condition in the original case

WE DON’T NEED:

Books in poor condition (yellowed pages, broken binding, missing covers, musty smells)

Text books or encyclopedias

Reader’s Digest Condensed books

Magazines

Dated information (old travel guides, encyclopedias, etc.)

VHS and abridged books on tape
